Tori & Lokita
The Dardenne brothers tell the story of 2 teenagers who fled Africa and ended up in Belgium. Tori (Pablo Schils) and Lokita (Joely Mbundu) are brought together by the harsh reality of refugee life, and together they try to build a life as brother and sister.
Obtaining a residence permit proves to be difficult, leaving Tori (Pablo Schils) and Lokita (Joely Mbundu) cornered from all sides. The two teens appear invisible to the world around them, but fortunately, they have each other to rely on.
As per their style, the Dardenne brothers collaborated with inexperienced actors but the phenomenal chemistry between Pablo Schils and Joely Mbundu is truly unforgettable. Their outstanding performance in Tori et Lokita won them the special prize at the 75th Cannes Film Festival.
