Gili

For years, Gili has been stepping into the minds of his audience with obvious delight. In Machtig!, his tenth show, he partly turns the tables. This time, he also invites his spectators to discover for themselves what that feels like.
In his tenth show, Gili not only proves that he is still a master of mentalism and humour, but also that his audience is capable of more than they themselves suspect. It is no coincidence that he has grown into a genre all of his own in Flanders.

“Lend me your imagination tonight and you will see that you are capable of things you did not yet know you could do. That you too can enter someone else’s mind and go in search of their secret thoughts.”

That is what comedian-mentalist Gili asks of you at the start of his tenth show Machtig!. We have known for quite some time that he himself is able to step into the minds of his audience. More than ever, he now also wants to let the spectators shine as the stars of the show. To their own surprise, they will experience what it feels like to have power over someone else. Add plenty of humour to that, and once again you get an authentic Gili show.

About Gili

With his talent as a mentalist combined with sharp-witted humour, Gili (aka Lieven Gheysen) has created a genre all of his own.

The road there began with a magic set when he was 12 years old. Once grown up, he made a name for himself by becoming a finalist in Humo’s Comedy Cup three times. His status as Flanders’ only magician-comedian was established. After a series of theatre shows, Gili immersed himself in mentalism from 2009 onwards. That is: using his five senses so well that it seems as if he has a sixth sense, and with that lovingly making alleged psychics and clairvoyants look ridiculous. His 2009 show Iedereen Paranormaal was a hit, and afterwards he got his own television programme on VRT: ONmogelijk. Suddenly, all of Flanders knew who he was. Later came the shows CTRL, Charlatan and Raar hè?!, and he toured in France, with runs in Paris and Avignon.

Besides being an artist, Gili is also the founder of the legendary comedy café De Trukendoos in Harelbeke and of the Comedy Marathon, the annual event in Capitole Ghent in support of charity. Both initiatives are currently being continued by Rinus Samyn.
