Prinses Nee! (6+)
Prinses Nee! lives in two palaces: one with her mum and one with her dad. So she ought to feel at home twice over, but that is not how it feels. Every week she moves back and forth, carrying her things, her thoughts and her own rules with her. Luckily, there are also 1 and 2, two remarkable figures who try to bring her home.
In this playful performance, Mona Lahousse, Jonas Leemans and Dimitri Leue turn the life of a girl with divorced parents into a fairy tale. With plenty of imagination, humour and music, they show how big sadness can sometimes be, but also how comfort and play can help.

“Are there any children here who eat fruit salad every day with a golden spoon, made with fresh fruit from all over the world, cut so finely that I do not even have to chew anymore, with raspberry coulis poured over it and decorated with three mint leaves of exactly the same size? No! Of course not. You get to eat sandwiches or cornflakes now and then. Lucky things!”
Prinses Nee! moves every week. Or rather, she “re-palaces” herself every week from her mother’s palace to her father’s palace, or the other way round. She is supposed to have two “homes”, but that is not how it feels to her. She is a little lost. Two men try to bring her home. They call themselves 1 and 2, but they are clearly much more than that.
“I have everything in duplicate, so I never have to move anything! Except my diary, I only have that once. I lost one sock in each of my palaces. And then they wanted to throw the other one away, but I said, oh no! Those are my switching socks. I wear them when I go from one palace to the other. So now I am wearing them. You cannot see it, but the left one comes from Mum’s palace and the right one from Dad’s palace.”
Mona Lahousse, Jonas Leemans and Dimitri Leue turn the life of a girl with separated parents into a fairy tale. Imagination and playfulness are not the wrapping around reality, no: they peel away the pent-up sadness and uncontrolled anger in order to arrive at acceptance.
“What are your favourite crisps? When I ask my dad that, he says: ‘My favourite crisps are lots. Lots of crisps. Much tastier than only a few crisps.’”
The music by Antoon Offeciers propels the whole story into a swinging journey, while the costumes by Katinka Heremans (De Maan) bring to life characters you have never seen before.
