In the first Team Spirit film from 2000, we saw a group of young twenty-somethings on the big screen, including Axel Daeseleire, Michaël Pas, Warre Borgmans and Dimitri Leue. By now, their characters have passed fifty and have teenage children of their own. In the new film Team Spirit Next Gen, the football team reunites with their families for a life-changing confrontation: Geert, their children’s coach and their best friend, is suffering from the muscle disease ALS. The news was kept secret for a long time by Geert and Erik. In the end, Geert decides to share his illness with his friends, causing a major shock within the group. As a result, their bond grows stronger and they draw closer together. Determined to support him, they do everything they can to fulfil Geert’s bucket list.
The film is directed by Jan Verheyen and Anne-Marie Brandstötter. The screenplay was written by Dimitri Leue and Mats Elsen. Producers Yves Van De Paer, Kobe Van Steenberghe and Hendrik Verthé produced the film on behalf of A Team Productions. Distribution is handled by Kinepolis Film Distribution.
